Congrats to the winners! Very glad to see many of my friends among the winners ^_^
Charlie Dayman should be working for ArenaNet, that animation looks totally fitting into GW2!
I love Trishie's chibi pic as well <3 That polar bear is the cutest ^_^
All the costume entries are fantastic!
I love the clay black widow spider in Odinius's picture, so creepy
This is Jora! At first shes failing, but then in the middle pic she grew up! These eyes and the position simply signals: Come on, you are gonna pay if youare honorless!
Anyways that costume first prize is mind blowing and incredibility detailed! Bravo to the winner, it must have taken hours to make it.

Yay that's me! Thank you so much ^_^ I'm so happy to have won something and first place is amazing!!!
I also LOVED the Grand Prize video, of course, haha! Its always so freakin cool to see how creative the entries are! Like that skateboard that won first place, wow! I never would have thought of something like that. Same with second place, that animation, so cool! How do you people think of these things!? All I can do is make costumes X_x lol.
Also I love seeing the other costume entries, as I have already told Koreena I wish we could do a photoshoot because it would be so cool to see the 2 Halloween 2010 costumes together! And Danika had great detail work, I know making something like that is very tedious and takes a lot of commitment. Finally, Aletha was so clever to make those Halloween potions out of beakers, I wish I had thought of that!!
There is something I would like to ask everyone, and that is do you think people should be allowed to win a Guild Wars art contest more than once? I am asking this because the costume grand prize winner has now won 3 grand prizes and another prize in Guild Wars art contests. So OBVIOUSLY these are the thoughts of a jealous competitor haha because she beat me :P Now also, this is the second time I have won a prize from a Guild Wars art contest, I was one of 10 "winners" in the 2007 contest, and I almost didn't enter this year because I had won previously. So do you guys think there should be some sort of rule about this? Or do you think well if someone loves Guild Wars enough to make that many different, very good entries over the years then they deserve to win many times? Just curious ^^ I am still not totally sure what I think, since my thoughts are clouded by jealousy (I do need new computer speakers lols)
^ i personally think that if you won at least two times you shouldnt be allowed to reenter another contest. this way it gives others a chance to try out and win.
I do not think there should be any limit to how many contests you can win in (and I have won/placed/HM in 8, so I am slightly biased.) I look forward to seeing the entries of many people who have won before to see if they outdo their previous efforts as well as looking forward to new artists blowing us away. If I had more time to put in this year maybe I would have placed higher this time (2 deaths in the family, I didn't even start until after the contest was announced and I finished the day before they were due) but I am not going to begrudge anyone that honestly had a better entry than mine. Everyone who enters has a chance, winning depends on how much work and creativity you put into it. I just have to try harder next contest and figure out something even more awesome.
Grats to all the winners! All the workshop entrants especially, who's hard work were on display in the nolani thread weeks before this contest. The costumes were amazing this year. I think making a separate category for them made a valuable difference. Looking forward to wintersday already.

That would be me. I personally think that if you've won, there should be a year before you can re-enter, but when I try to come up with reasons why I don't completely agree with myself. I suppose that's why I've re-entered so many times. I think contestants should be advised and inspired by previous winners to make something they think can win, if they're so goal-minded about it. Some people don't care about the prizes and just enter for a bit of fun and contribution to the community (and Anet's entertainment in the studio?). I think both are good motivation to enter, but if you wish to be seriously competitive you should have to be ambitious in your ideas, and the certainty of returning competition stimulates this. All that said, I think you did a great job on your costume and I thought, back when I saw your costume for the first time, that you should (or should've) entered the halloween competition. I thought you might this year, and it made me want to create a better costume. Having finished it, I still thought you'd probably beat me if you entered, and I was surprised to see you didn't. I suppose, ultimately, this is a contest like any other; it boils down to the judges' personal preference and experience, nothing more and nothing less. Take to heart that in a cosplay competition things might've been different.
By the way, you can talk to me about this on dA if you wish, I think we're mutual watchers. I watch you anyway! You can find me here if you feel like a chat.

Haha, yes I do "watch" you on DeviantArt (Though I suppose it sounds rather creepy when you phrase it that way *_*) and I am looking forward to seeing more cosplay from you in the future ^^ I believe that you're right in implying that it doesn't really matter in the end who wins, but it is great to see all of the entries and very entertaining for all of the fans and creators of the game. I wish they could put up every entry they receive in an online photo album somewhere, that would be much easier than me having to search Google and DeviantArt for all of the entries :P
